Translation by Bertrand Gille :
Albert Goshman is one of my heroes in magic. He was one of the first magicians that I was able to attend a conference. By far the most magical one. As soon as I heard that Dominique Duvivier was doing a number in tribute to Goshman, I wanted to have it. Of course, "to have it" also meant seeing it and commenting on it. With 4 DVDs for more than seven hours of video it was no small feat.
The first DVD contains the show. Dominique starts with a rather bluffing trick, even if he didn't finish it. It was a kind of "joke for magicians", but it still remains an effective magic.
Then begins a sequence showing several short videos of magicians who influenced the show.
You have probably heard these names before: Fred Kaps, Ken Brooke, Max Maven, Michael Weber, Ricky Jay, Brother John Hamman. If you don't know these names, then read some books and close your " $^*@ " browser until you've done your share of personal research work.
The first effect of the show is a "drink on demand" effect. A white game with liquor names written on both sides is clearly shown. Each side of each card has a different liquor name. One card is chosen randomly: The name of the liqueur on it corresponds to the contents of a glass kept in a locked safe and in full view of everyone since the beginning of the show. The name of the liqueur on the other side of the chosen card corresponds to the contents of a glass taken from Dominica's own pocket. This pocket had been shown to be clearly empty a few moments before, since a member of the audience had put his hand in it to get the key to open the box.
What follows is a sequence of cards that defies explanation. Apparently without any effort, the people (from the audience) who assist him/her find and name the cards chosen by people from the audience. Unfortunately, the following sequence provides a lead for the explanation of the first phase. For my part, I will stick to the purely miraculous phase.
Then we leave for a "copper, silver, brass" coin sequence followed by a journey of coins to a purse and "coin crossings" with a very surprising finale.
The second act begins with a long sequence to produce. a small ball from a large bag. You probably think I'm joking. "Non mon ami" (in French in the text), it was even one of the most amazing things in this set. The little ball is then used in a little chop cup routine. Chop cup which finally turns out to be a cup. full! Which makes it possible to create another cup. just as full! It's hard to explain but really cool to watch and extremely bluffing!
That's enough! I don't want to tell you any more. If what I've already described hasn't definitely whetted your appetite, I conclude that this DVD is not for you. For others who might be interested, there are still 45 more minutes to discover. In fact, most of the remaining part is a tribute to Dominique Goshman, which begins with a beautiful introduction, sincere and very humble.
Dominique Duvivier embodies very well those things that made Goshman so pleasing to the eye while remaining true to himself, retaining his talent and his own personality. The performance is experienced more as a conversation between friends than as a show as such. We ourselves become part of this magical world, we are not only the spectators, but also the audience.
The explanatory parts are wonderfully detailed. Dominique has explored every little detail. He explains how to get the most out of his helpers (assistants) and, most importantly, he explains why he made a particular decision. It covers everything from material management to psychological aspects. Don't worry if you don't speak French well, the translation is very good and lets the ideas, but also, the passion, show through! I

here are several small (minor) errors in my translation. this is the result of a "on-the-fly" translation. It's not very serious, but more importantly, I just saw that I made a rather amusing slip by making a translation error ...
Indeed, we can read :
"In fact, most of the remaining part is a tribute to Dominique Goshman, which begins with a beautiful introduction, sincere and very humble".
Dominique Goshman! Is this not proof by the slip of the tongue that the attempt to personalize/impregnate Goshman is successful beyond all hope?
Thank you again M. Duvivier :)
I loved this DVD set especially your mania for looking for efficiency in every detail. A real professional job. An Artist's work! (.)

When I read the articles about you on the other side of the Atlantic, I didn't think that Americans liked you so much!
When we switched on the comparison between you and Mr. Goshman... it calmed down! We are lucky to have a French goshman gentlemen according to the authors of the articles !!! Even Bertand Gille made the amalgam (around the 6th paragraph he writes "dominique Goshman") ! A simple typing mistake or a trick played by his mind (like a slip of the tongue...)
So there is no doubt (for those who still had some)! You are a great master of magic... (at last in my eyes, but I'm not the only one!)
So what is waiting for France, but especially for French magicians, to recognize you as such!
One of your many, even very many, fans,
friendly,

Yes me in the few towers that I own my favorites are the print shop
the set of signatures
and storm under a skull
Then I have the Duvivier portfolio which are great..
the three dvd boxes I have (intimate 1 and 2 and melting pot) are really an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
I always take great pleasure in watching them over and over again.
Even if I love gimmicks, I find that Duvivier's effects allow me to do beautiful things without really feeling like a gimmick in my hands. .
I do not consider Duvivier's products to be a gadget.
