Two helpers enter the scene carrying a palanquin with the curtains closed. They put it in the middle of the stage and move away. The magician opens the curtains from the front by sliding them to the ends of the apparatus. He passes behind and opens the curtains at the back, then he passes the upper body through the palanquin, knocks on the platform, to show that nothing is hidden inside. When this demonstration is over, the magician closes the curtains and moves him away from the palanquin. When he claps his hands, the front curtains open and there are two women sitting inside.
